Since 2006, Thompson's® WaterSeal® has been a proud partner of Niagara Falls State Park, America’s oldest state park, helping them to protect the famous Cave of the Winds decks. You might have seen them featured in several movies! Actually, it’s a series of decks, joined by connecting walkways that bring visitors upwards until they are standing just 15 feet from the plummeting waters of Bridal Veil Falls. 

The top deck is called The Hurricane Deck for a reason – winds can reach the level of a Category 1 hurricane and the water rains down continually. Every fall, the crew (nicknamed “The Cave Men”) takes up each decking board and brings them inside for winter. If not, the ice formed by the spray of the falls would build up and crush the wood. Once spring arrives, the crew rebuilds the deck, using only hand tools (no power tools!) and their expert knowledge of the terrain.
